Is this product food-safe or skin-safe?
"Safe" is product-specific, never assume a whole product line shares a rating. Check the individual TDS, but the general picture:
- Skin-safe: specific platinum silicones are formulated and rated for direct skin contact (lifecasting lines such as Body Double and makeup materials such as Skin Tite). Use only products explicitly rated skin-safe for anything worn on or applied to the body.
- Food-safe: certain platinum silicones carry food-contact suitability when used as directed, typically these must be fully cured and, for some, post-cured. Tin-cure silicones and urethane resins are generally not food-safe.
- Release agents & pigments can change the safety picture, a food/skin-safe silicone is only safe if everything you added to it is too. Wash release residue off skin-contact parts (warm water + dish soap; an IPA wipe helps further).
Important: Always confirm the exact product and its current TDS before any food or body application, and follow any required post-cure step. When in doubt, ask support with the specific product name, don't generalize from a similar-sounding one.
