How do I color my silicone or resin, and how much pigment can I add?
Use the pigment matched to your material family, this matters because the wrong pigment can inhibit cure or never disperse:
- Silicone → Silc-Pig silicone pigments. Cast Magic effect powders for metallic effects.
- Urethane resin, rubber & foam → So-Strong, UVO or Ignite colorants. Cast Magic effect powders for metallic effects.
- Epoxy → UVO or Ignite colorants. Cast Magic effect powders for metallic effects.
The hard limit: Pigment is part of your chemistry. Keep total colorant under roughly 2–3% of total system weight (check the specific TDS). Overloading, especially with water-based or craft colorants, leaves the part soft, tacky, or uncured. For strong color, use a small amount of a concentrated, material-matched pigment, not a large amount of a weak one.
Add pigment to Part B (or per the TDS), mix it in fully before combining the two parts, so the color is uniform when curing begins.
